What We Do
Psychiatric Rehabilitation
We begin with a comprehensive assessment to understand each client’s unique needs. From there, we develop a personalized treatment plan centered on the individual’s goals. Our psychiatric rehabilitation program includes structured one-on-one and group sessions that support the development of independent living skills and help individuals manage symptoms of mental illness.
Rehabilitation Assessment
Each client receives a thorough rehabilitation assessment conducted by a licensed mental health professional. This process helps determine the most effective course of treatment and services. Once plan is in place, our direct care staff provide consistent, supportive follow-through.
Health and Wellness
Clients are supported in developing daily health routines, including hygiene, nutrition, and exercise. Our wellness offerings include fitness and movement classes, as well as practical skills such as cooking, meal prep, and home care.
Community Living Skills
We assist individuals in developing practical life skills needed for everyday independence. This includes budgeting, money management, navigating public transportation, and accessing community resources like grocery stores, libraries, and retail spaces.
Justice Impacted Collective (JIC)
At the Family Support Center of Maryland, we recognize that many of our clients are navigating the challenges of life after incarceration. While we are not a reentry program, our Psychiatric Rehabilitation Program (PRP) is uniquely designed to support justice-impacted individuals through person-centered, trauma-informed care that addresses the complex barriers they often face.
Community Integration
At FSCMD, our community integration services empower individuals to reconnect with their communities and personal lives. We focus on building the skills, confidence, and resources needed to engage meaningfully in social, work, and everyday life activities.
Symptom Management / Psychoeducation
Understanding mental health conditions is an essential part of recovery. We provide psychoeducational support to help individuals and families understand diagnoses, recognize symptoms, and actively participate in treatment.
Social and Communication Skills
We help clients build and strengthen interpersonal skills through individual and group sessions. Focus areas include effective communication, active listening, conflict resolution, parenting support, and anger management.
Supportive Employment
FSCMD’s supportive employment program assists clients in gaining meaningful employment through:
- Support in building a professional resume and submitting job applications
- Offering form mock interviews
- Helping individuals find work based on skills, interests, and enjoyment
- Systematic follow-up regarding workplace experience
